REGULATION

1.- ORGANIZATION

Villarreal Yellow Cup Miami powered by LaLiga is a tournament that will be fundamentally based on the FIFA regulations, as well as additional ‘Real Federación Española de Fútbol’ regulations, with the exception of extraordinary modifications imposed by our tournament. (Heading the ball is allowed).

This tournament is a sporting event that will involved participation from clubs from the Miami area, MLS and Villarreal CF.

The tournament will be 7-a-side for U12s at the Amelia Earhart Park Soccer Field (address: Soccer Field Hialeah, FL 33014 USA).

2.- PARTICIPANTS

2.1 TEAMS

A total of 16 participating teams will take part on a voluntary basis.

  • Major League Soccer clubs.
  • Clubs from the Miami area.
  • Villarreal CF.

2.2 AGE OF THE PARTICIPANTS

The competition is limited to U12 players born between January 1, 2008 and December 31, 2009.

Each team will have a maximum of 12 players per game, who will be part of the player list sent to the competition organizers at least 15 days before the start of the competition.

2.3 STARTING LINEUP AND SUBSTITUTES

The starting lineup will be made up of seven (7) players, including the goalkeeper.

Each team can stop the play 3 times a game, and in each break can make the highest number of changes possible. Changes at half-time do not count towards this total.

A team can use the opposition team stopping the game to change as many players as possible for their own team.

Players who have been sent off cannot be substituted.

Substitutions will take place by asking permission from the match referee during the game.

2.4 ENDING OF A MATCH

Should a team during the match, regardless of whether it is in the group stage or a knockout tie, be left with less than four (4) players on the field, the referee will end the game. Should that happen, the result will be given as three (3) goals to nil (0), should the result at that moment not be bigger than that. The team not turning up to the game with a delay of more than ten minutes will lead to a defeat by three (3) goals to nil (0).

2.5 GROUP STAGE QUALIFIYING SYSTEM

The top two teams from each group will qualify for the GOLD final stage, to take part in the GOLD quarter-finals.

The teams finishing in third (3rd) and fourth (4th) in each group will qualify for the SILVER final stage, to take part in the SILVER quarter-finals.

Scoring in each group stage game will be the following: match won (3 points), match drawn (1 point), match lost (0 points).

Should there be teams level on points once the group stage is over, the criteria for qualification will be the following:

  • Overall goal difference, by the biggest difference between goals scored and goals conceded, taking into account the Group Stage ties.
  • Team with the highest numbers of goals scored, taking into account all the goals scored in the Group Stage.
  • Head to head, taking into account the results from matches played between the sides tied.
  • Fair play, the team with the fewest number of cards.

2.6 DRAWS IN THE KNOCKOUT STAGE

To resolve possible draws during the knock-out stage, whether it be the GOLD or SILVER final stage, there will be penalty shootouts of three (3) penalties per side.

Should the draw continue, both teams will continue alternating penalties until one team should score one more than the other.

3.- PLAYING FIELDS

Regulation I of the Real Federación Española de Fútbol’s 7-a-side regulations will be used, which states that the maximum length of the pitch will be 65 meters, and the minimum will be 50 meters, while the maximum width will be 45 meters and the minimum will be 30 meters, with the length always longer than the width. The offside line will be 12 meters from the touchline by the goals.

4.- THE BALL

The ball will be a No.4 size as established in Regulation II of the Real Federación Española de Fútbol’s 7-a-side regulations.

5.- PLAYING KIT

Regulation IV of the Real Federación Española de Fútbol’s 7-a-side regulations will be applied.

Should there be a color clash between the team’s kits during a match, the team drawn as the away side should change their kit.

Auxiliary personnel will be in control of carrying out all the competition regulations, but they will not get involved in refereeing decisions.
