ABERDEEN GRAMMAR SCHOOL

Friday, 23 May 2025 10:00

The Scottish school kicks off its Training Camp.

Aberdeen Grammar School is a secondary school with an almost millennia-long history. The institution was founded in Aberdeen, Scotland, around the year 1256, according to official school records. In 2019, it was ranked as the 15th best state secondary school in Scotland by The Times. Though it has changed location once, its heritage spans over 750 years. Among its notable former pupils is Lord Byron, the renowned Romantic poet and writer, who attended the school briefly during his childhood. AGS is built on three core values: ambition, growth, and success.

The Aberdeen Grammar School delegation consists of 34 players aged between 12 and 14, forming two teams: one mixed and one boys' team. The group arrived in Vila-real on Wednesday and, after an introductory session with the coaches and facilities, began their Training Camp with a double morning training session based on Villarreal CF’s methodology.

On Thursday, led by the coaching staff of the Cantera Grogueta, the boys and girls from AGS enjoyed another training session, continuing their personal and football development at one of the top sporting facilities in Spain. At the end of the session, each player received a personalized official diploma as a souvenir and certification of their participation.

On Friday, the final day of their stay, the Aberdeen Grammar School students had the opportunity to take the Tour of the Estadio de la Cerámica, where they learned first-hand about the most important milestones in Villarreal CF’s history, a perfect conclusion to their experience.

Football exchange programs are an enriching opportunity for the holistic development of young people and a chance to discover new ways of seeing and understanding the game.
