BLESSED THOMAS SCHOOL

Wednesday, 14 May 2025 09:00

The British school has held its Training Camp at Villarreal CF’s Training Ground.

Blessed Thomas School is a secondary school located in Altrincham, a town south of the River Mersey, around 13 kilometres southwest of central Manchester. The school is named after a 16th-century priest from Cheshire and is defined by two main pillars: being a specialist education centre in mathematics and computing, and its Catholic mission. The school's purpose is rooted in the religious mission and values of the Catholic Church, which shape its identity, values, sense of responsibility, purpose, and unity.

The British delegation arrived in Vila-real this past Monday with 45 students aged 12 and 13, divided into three different teams. The youngsters fully enjoyed their Training Camp, held at one of the top sporting venues in Spain: the Ciudad Deportiva José Manuel Llaneza. Guided by Villarreal CF’s methodology and the coaching staff from the Cantera Grogueta, the players improved technical aspects of their game while discovering a new culture.

The programme began with an introduction to the coaches and facilities, followed by a morning training session and a visit to the Estadio de la Cerámica —home of the Yellow Submarine— where they explored over 100 years of history that give meaning to the club. On the second day, they continued progressing with sessions focused on technical, tactical and physical development. The Training Camp concluded today with a final training session. As a memento and recognition for their participation, each player received a personalised official diploma.

Experiences like this not only support the all-round development of young people, but also blend learning with the richness of international cultural exchange.
