Estrella CF becomes the second Canary Islands team confirmed for the Yellow Cup.
From playing in Sardina to living soccer in the Ciudad Deportiva José Manuel Llaneza. Estrella Club de Fútbol joins the vibrant and exciting international base soccer tournament organized by Villarreal Club de Fútbol during Easter week.
Almost a century ago, when federated competitions were a dream for most people, there was a group of neighbors, friends or, better said, colleagues, who got together to play soccer in Sardina del Sur, a village in the municipality of Santa Lucía de Tirajana, located in the southeast of Gran Canaria, in the province of Las Palmas. Between rag balls, wooden studs and, the lucky ones, espadrilles, the king of sports on the island began to be practiced.
Who would have thought that these youngsters, who all traveled together to other towns in the 'Estrella', a van they used to move around the municipalities to play, that in 1946 the green and white colors would be the identity, the hallmark and the first stone of a new club.
The Estrella CF school was created with the main objective of enabling the boys and girls of the island to have a first contact with soccer in an entertaining way, using it as a vehicle through which to form and transmit values such as friendship, respect for others, unity and self-improvement. The green-and-whites, through adaptation and personalization, create objectives and content to educate young people and build a better, more balanced, tolerant, supportive and committed society.
The spirit of the old van will arrive at the Villarreal Yellow Cup Easter to show the world the competitive spirit, courage and talent that brings together the green and white shirt, a symbol of identity and pride.
Let's go Vikings!
