The most veteran entity of the old Vila de Sarrià returns to the Easter tournament.
Confirmed! The soccer section of the Centre Parroquial Sant Vicenç de Sarrià announces its participation in the Villarreal Yellow Cup Easter, the exciting base soccer tournament organized by Villarreal Club de Fútbol that will take place from April 17 to 20 at the Ciudad Deportiva José Manuel Llaneza.
CP Sarrià was founded in 1952 and is known for being the oldest and most representative soccer entity of the old Vila de Sarrià, which was annexed to Barcelona in 1921 despite the opposition of the neighbors. Until a few years ago, the blue-and-red team had only had a single president, Josep Calderó i Calopa, who had held his position since he was 17 years old until giving way to the current president, Purificación Romero.
The ideals on which 'Sarrià' is based cover three areas: sports, education and training. CP Sarrià promotes the practice of sports as one more habit within a healthy life; it encourages commitment, work and effort as values within a common project. The club contributes to the integral education of all young people, always prioritizing the human and personal aspects over the sporting ones, that is to say, competition is used as a means to improve individually and collectively.
The blue-and-red entity has 24 youth soccer teams, three of them female, which is a milestone for Sarrià and for the neighborhood, because three years ago the club had no unique space for girls, who had never played, where they could develop and grow practicing the king of sports.
The Villarreal Yellow Cup Easter is the ideal scenario to reaffirm the commitment to sports development and formative soccer. The attitude, the desire and the pride of representing a historical entity will be what makes the Barcelona team vibrate.
