Tuesday, 12 May 2026 10:00

The Castellón-based club will take part in the Villarreal Yellow Cup Summer, reinforcing a development project backed by nearly four decades of history.

Located in the heart of Castellón, CF Rafalafena has established itself as one of the leading grassroots football clubs in the city. With almost 40 years of history, the club is preparing for another participation in the Villarreal Yellow Cup Summer, which will take place from June 25 to 28, with the José Manuel Llaneza Training Ground serving as the main venue alongside several additional locations. The tournament represents another step forward in the club’s commitment to player development and continuous growth.

The club currently has around 22 federated teams and nearly 400 players, a structure that reflects the scale of a project deeply rooted in its local community. Its red-and-black identity is an integral part of Castellón’s sporting landscape, where the club plays an important role in the education and development of young players both on and off the pitch.

Throughout its history, CF Rafalafena has seen several players progress to professional football, including Juanjo Nieto, currently playing in Slovenian football, and Pablo Hernández, who enjoyed an outstanding international career and is regarded as a historic figure at Leeds United. This track record highlights the value of the club’s academy and its ability to nurture talent from the grassroots level.

Its participation in the Villarreal Yellow Cup Summer represents an opportunity to continue showcasing its development model in an international competitive environment. In this setting, the Castellón club will aim to keep evolving by offering its players an enriching experience that strengthens both their sporting growth and their collective identity.
