The historic Catalan club joins the party of international base soccer.
Confirmed! The 'blue escapulari' will fly around the Ciudad Deportiva José Manuel Llaneza. Club Esportiu Europa confirms its participation in the Villarreal Yellow Cup Easter, the fashionable event of formative soccer organized by Villarreal Club de Fútbol during the Easter week.
CE Europa is an entity that was born in 1907, more than 100 years ago, the result of the union of two modest clubs such as Provençal and Madrid de Barcelona. Europa was born in Vila de Gràcia, one of the smallest districts of Barcelona, but the second with more inhabitants per square kilometer.
The club, known mainly for its men's team, is one of the historic clubs of Catalan soccer, and despite being in the Second Federation, it has 2,750 members who carry Europa on their shoulders. The 1920s were the best era for the Blue and Whites, as the club was a finalist in the King's Cup, losing 1-0 to Athletic Club, and shortly afterwards became one of the ten founding teams of the Spanish Football League. In recent times, the club's commitment to expanding its name has led the women's team to two promotions and to a place in the silver category of Spanish women's soccer. The 'escapulari' team is pride and identity, a way of understanding sport, but also life.
History, like everything else, has taken CE Europa through some good and some not so good moments. In the mid-90s the club had to leave its home ground for construction work and it was thanks to the construction of the Nou Sardenya, the current stadium of the team from Gràcia, that the club was able to work on its future through training soccer. The 'escapulari' team put everything at the disposal of base soccer, as it believed in this as an instrument to nurture the first team. Currently, more than 30 federated teams represent the 'gracienc' shield.
The Villarreal Yellow Cup Easter is the perfect setting to enjoy the values and history of Europa, a club that wants to leave its mark wherever it goes.
