SP Sant Marçal leaves the island to play the Villarreal Yellow Cup Summer.

Sporting is here! Sporting Sant Marçal confirms its participation in the Villarreal Yellow Cup Summer, the end of season tournament organised by Villarreal Club de Fútbol, which will take place from the 26th to the 29th of June.

The entity, born in 1984, belongs to the locality of Pòrtol, a district of the municipality of Marratxí, located in the southwestern part of Mallorca. This area is known for its traditional pottery, more specifically for the handmade production of "greixoneres", a type of flat-bottomed earthenware casserole.

The club, which has more than 40 years of history, emerged after the disappearance of the youth categories in the C.E. Marratxí. A group of parents, together with some of the old Marratxí fans and directors, decided to take these youngsters and form a new team, thus SP. Sant Marçal was born.

The beginning was not easy, as much of the attention was given to the first team. However, the firm commitment of the board of directors to a policy that would promote and strengthen training football as a tool for growth and education led the Portolans to turn the club into a basse football school. Currently the club has teams from pre-benjamin to senior categories, with fun and learning being the main driving forces of all of them.

Sporting Sant Marçal had in its ranks for seven years one of the best goalkeepers on the planet, the FC Barcelona player Cata Coll, who started kicking a ball on the Son Caulelles pitch, which today bears her name: Camp Municipal Son Caulelles-Cata Coll Lluch. The 'Azulgrana' goalkeeper, who is a source of pride for the people of Marratxí, has a stratospheric list of achievements: four Liga F, three Copa de la Reina, three Supercopa de España, three UEFA Women's Champions League, one U-17 World Cup, one U-17 European Championship, one FIFA World Cup and one UEFA Women's Nations League.

During the Villarreal Yellow Cup Summer, the Portolan team will experience first-hand what it is like to compete with some of the best youth teams in Spain in top-level facilities. Will we have a Mallorcan champion?
