The Extremaduran club will take part in the tournament after consolidating a historic trajectory within Spanish football.
Club Deportivo Diocesano, from Cáceres, arrives at the Villarreal Yellow Cup Summer representing one of the historic institutions of football in Extremadura. Founded in 1965 by Bishop Manuel Llopis as the sports section of Colegio Diocesano, the club has maintained a strong commitment to youth football development throughout its history.
Currently, Diocesano competes in Group XIV of the Tercera Federación and plays its home matches at Campos de la Federación, a venue with a capacity of 4,000 spectators. Over the past decades, the club has experienced steady growth, highlighted especially by its promotion to the Tercera División in 2017 and later to the Segunda Federación in 2022.
One of the most memorable moments in its history came during the 2022 Copa del Rey, when the club eliminated the historic Real Zaragoza, achieving one of the greatest sporting milestones in the institution’s history.
Its participation in the Villarreal Yellow Cup Summer will allow the club to bring all of this experience and tradition into a leading grassroots football environment.
